devanshade:

sundaystorms:

A French father talking about the Paris Attacks with his son.

I’ve seen some people commenting that flower and candles can’t really protect him, or us, and to those commenters I’d just like to say:

Reminders of how good and kind and compassionate we can be strengthen us, and keep us from acting on the fear and pain we feel. They compel us to love and support each other, regardless of religion or background; and if we can love more than groups can hate, then eventually fewer and fewer people will hate with them, and the flowers and the candles will have been the strongest protection we could have had.

So yes, they do protect us, just not in the way you’re thinking.
