And in case you didn’t, the cardinal fish here just ate a type of ostracod (a tiny seed-shaped shrimpy animal) that can make intense light bursts. After being swallowed, the light made by the ostracod effectively gives the fish a glowy belly. Swimming around with a glowing patch makes it easy to be spotted by preadators, so the fish would rather avoid this and pukes the still-glowing ostracod back out. c:
