Redditors are keeping diligent tabs on the ongoing problem of pre-marked ballots with Conservative votes across the country. You can read the full thread here. Here’s more official news sources, if you don’t like or trust Reddit:

Metro News on Nova Scotia ballots
CBC on Peterborough, ON ballots
CBC on Vancouver, BC ballots
CBC on New Brunswick ballots
CBC on Manitoba ballots

The reddit link has others. Just wanted to show that this is a clearly Canada-wide phenomenon and the fact that they seem to be Conservative is more than a little convenient.

Canadian Tories funneled $8M in tax money to US Republican Party’s NGO

Under the Stephen Harper government, $8M was given to the John McCain-chaired International Republican Institute, a non-governmental organization started by the US Republican party to advocate for right-wing policies abroad.

The money came out of the tax-funded Canadian International Development Agency, whose work is supposed to support literacy, hygiene, access to medicine and water, and other core development goals.

IRI’s primary funder is USAID, a US soft diplomacy institution that funds overseas development in countries of strategic importance to the USA. IRI has been implicated in supporting coup d’etats in Central America and the Caribbean.

The Canadian tax dollars that went to the IRI were earmarked for “Strengthening Multiparty Democracy” in Ukraine.

I just threw up in my mouth

Canadian Tories funneled $8M in tax money to US Republican Party’s NGO

hi my fellow canadians

oscarisaaced:

here’s some quick things:

  1. monday the 19th is the federal election!!!! if you’re over the age of 18 and hold canadian citizenship, that means you can vote ~*congratulations*~

  2. if you registered to vote and received a voter card in the mail, cool! pls bring that with you to the place indicated on the card to cast your ballot. if you didn’t register, that’s also cool. go to your nearest voting centre on elections day and register there! do that by looking up your postal code here. also! perhaps double check that the place is correct because false voter cards have been issued in this election cycle.
  3. perhaps the most important piece is that you need more id than just your voter card this time around (thank u 2015 elections act) so bring along your drivers license or any amalgamation of id listed under these guidelines here.
  4. SECONDLY if you’re not sure who to cast your ballot for i recommend reading through party websites for the conservatives,  liberals, green party, ndp or if u live in quebec the bloc –  or using a vote compass like this or this. if you plan on voting strategically, try websites like this one
  5. IF you are a student at a university, consider pledging your vote to help your univeristy student union through get out the vote! you can do so here  – you can still do this if you voted in an early ballot!

if you read this and have any questions pls ask me. i’ll try to answer them to the best of my ability

Repeating for emphasis – be sure to double check the voting centre because yes, false voting centre locations have been given out before.

Hope every fellow Canadian manages to get out and vote on Monday!
